The Ship

The Odysseia is a 20m long, 6m wide, completely wooden motor & sailing boat.

Its manufacturing type is called "Perama", a descendant of the ancient Greek war and commercial ships.

This allowed captain Gerasimos, following his passion, to transform the Odysseia into a replica of the Athenian triremes, creating a truly unique handcrafted ship; on which you have the chance to embark.

Facilities

Our ship is equipped with an onboard bar selling all kinds of drinks, snaks and cocktails, men and women bathrooms, shower and a cabin to change.

1990

Captain Giorgos, a Spartan

The Odysseia was originally a commercial boat. Captain Giorgos, a Spartan, had this original idea to create an ancient Greek warship. So The Odysseia was redesigned as a replica of an ancient Greek Pentikondoros.

As Giorgos deeply believed that Lefkada was the ancient Ithaca, his conviction compelled him to carry out the work locally in Vlicho, Lefkada.

But time passed quickly and Captain Giorgos was no longer physically able to undertake by himself some of the tasks needed. His finances had dwindled and he slowly and sadly realized that his dream of sailing the Odysseia was not possible. He had to sell his Odysseia!

2000

Captain Gerasimos

Gerasimos after many years at sea, with several boats accredited to the family name decided that the Odysseia was his calling, a mission that could become his profession. So he decided to make her his and to fulfill the Odysseia journey.

Many years in the boat yard of Vlicho, hours of hard work, sorrow, anguish and despair did not prevent Gerasimos and Mariedo, their devotion and dedication proved to be invaluable, an outstanding achievement and the outcome can be experienced today.
